![]() You haven’t lived until you’ve had to grovel to the police at three o’clock in the morning. I can’t believe you talked me into having a party. ![]() How about I go and puke in the bathroom instead? Tell you what, why don’t you get up and have a cup of coffee first? Or some more wine? There’s half a bottle of… She ducked back into the kitchen. Judging by the apologetic grimace on her face, it would be the latter. You’re either gonna love me or you’re gonna hate me. Once, she’d been my best friend, but not anymore seeing as last night’s get-together had been her idea. Tessa poked her head around the kitchen door. I’d fallen asleep-or rather, passed out-on the sofa, and between there and the kitchen, the apartment I shared with my brother looked as though the love child of a hurricane and a tornado had rampaged through it. For the readers familiar with the previous books in the series, this novel lets us spend some bonus time with Zander and Dove and of course, when things get really dangerous, none other than co-owner's of Blackwood Security, Emmy and Black to provide their 007-esque level of expertise to find the killer and tie-up the loose ends.Īlthough this is book #4 from the Blackwood UK series, the storyline stands on its own with no cliff hangers and can be read without reading the previous books (although if you've not read the other books, I truly envy you because you have a whole slew of books in Blackwood UK, Blackwood Security, and Blackwood Elements that are brand new to you, all of which are excellent!).Huh? My neck creaked as I turned my head to the side. The supporting characters are well fleshed out, making the reader look forward to hopefully seeing some of the new characters as reoccurring, possibly even featured in later books. She is relatable in her vulnerabilities and admirable in her ability to keep a level head as she stumbles into emergencies and dangerous situations. This is just the launching point of the story though as Alana and Travis find themselves drawn to one another on tour while at the same time either could be suspects in a series of suspicious sometimes deadly accidents.Īlana Graves is yet another scrappy, smart, strong female lead from Elise Noble. Despite some rough first impressions, Alana soon finds that she is not the only one carrying painful baggage from her past, and discovers the not-for-public side of the four rock stars, particularly Travis, the lead singer and song writer of the band. Once again, Elise Noble offers up a supercharged novel full of action, strong likeable characters, steamy romance, danger, and mystery that I didn't want to put down until I turned the very last page.Īlana, a 21-year-old journalism student (Zander's younger sister from Shallow Graves, Blackwood UK#3) in a moment of desperation has reluctantly taken the position of "Instababe" (or social media coordinator) for a member of a scandal plagued, world popular American rock band while they are on their UK tour. ![]() So many more good things I could say about the book, but I don’t want to spoil it. I like the evolution of the Graves family dinners. I like how the suspense always takes center stage for parts of each of the Blackwood UK books. I enjoyed how the POV switched between sister and brother, Alana and Zander - I adored him in Shallow Graves. I really feel like her scenes in Indigo Rain were some of my favorite Emmy cameos. She was like gorilla glue - she nick in there between them, puffed up, grabbed on, and made them stronger. I love when she puts them in their place. I love that she is grounded and doesn’t seem to have stars in her eyes over these rockers. She has a deep love and sense of obligation to her brother. She is smart, funny, and still finding herself. I liked Alana in Shallow Graves, but I adore her in Indigo Rain. Just as you are starting to get a feel for Alana and the group, things start happen - red flags start popping up. Travis had depths that often aren’t painted into a romantic lead, let alone a “rocker.” All four band members seemed to have more going on and their own relatable struggles. She didn’t type cast any of the guys and leave them at that. Elise didn’t paint the rock world as any one thing, but rather she showed the bright spots and the pitfalls - and she inserted to right dose of humor. But I suppose that’s the thing about Elise’s books, they aren’t cookie cutter. I am not generally one to read or thoroughly enjoy a “rock star” book. Elise gets to spend more time at the front of the book in the music world that the Blackwood world. On the surface, Alana was the little sister of one of the Blackwood guys and Travis, the male lead, is someone Blackwood has been hired to protect - all very straightforward. ![]() I feel like Indigo Rain was exceptional in how it intertwined the Blackwood world into it so seamlessly.
